About
Ever since I can remember, my passion has been the creative arts. Whether drawing cartoons or designing covers for imaginary books, I spent most of my younger years clutching pen and paper. And, on the odd occasion when they were absent, my fingers would click together Lego blocks. I’ve transitioned from traditional art to the digital world in more modern times. However, my grounding in conventional techniques such as typography and composition allowed me to understand commercial design’s intricacies and, in the process, granted me the opportunity to create some amazing projects and pass this knowledge on to the emerging creatives of tomorrow.
Make it simple but significant.

Background
Career
Trained as a typographer with over thirty years industry experience, I have worked for a number of institutions including the AFL, Australian Red Cross, and Vision Victoria producing a range of print and digital related services from books and magazines to web sites and annual reports. I also coordinate the twice yearly pop culture event ComiXpo, Australia’s most exciting science fiction and fantasy collectable pop culture fair which showcases some of the greatest names in comics, movies, television, animation, and gaming.
Education
When I was in high school I landed a month long internship in the graphic design department at Channel 9 in Melbourne. The experience cemented my desire to make this profession my career. And, after completing HSC at Montmorency Secondary College and TOP at Footscray College, I did just that. I hold a Master of Publishing and Editing from Monash University and I am currently developing my PhD thesis on Australian folklore and its impact on worldwide pop culture. I also possess a Certificate IV in Printing Technology, an Advanced Certificate in Printing Technology Administration & Processes, and a Printing Survey Certificate from RMIT.
Highlights
Over the course of my career I have had the pleasure of working with number of notable individuals including Tom Hafey, Dean Jones, Darryl Cotton, Andy Maher, Brian Mannix, Mike Brady, Gavin Wood, Ian Jones, and Max Brown. I have taught at Townsville’s James Cook University’s live work studio RossDesign, and I was a sessional lecturer at Melbourne’s RMIT School of Advertising, Ducere Global Business School, and the Academy of Interactive Technology. For a number of years I was a senior lecturer and subject coordinator at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Bachelor of Writing and Publishing. In 2017, New Holland Publishers published my first commercial novel Ned Kelly: The Iron Outlaw. After a successful first run, the book was revised and republished in 2018.

Specialising in the fields of…
Design
As a visual communicator, I create perceivable concepts using a variety of traditional and digital methods to convey ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers through both physical and virtual art forms that include images, words, and graphics.
Writing
By understanding and applying the common language of my audience I am able to conceptualise, research, write, and edit manuscripts, reports, blogs, articles, and other types of written content which grants me the ability to work across genres from nonfiction to prose, and fiction to satire.
Digital
I create, manage, and produce digital solutions for a variety of uses including websites, product graphics, email templates, social media graphics, brand campaigns, and photography. By taking ideas from concept to execution, I interpret concepts into a design that will deliver an effective user experience.
Publishing
I do more than just pore over a manuscript, writing notes to the author in the margin. From the start of the process to the very end, I need to invest a huge amount of time, money, and expertise to ensure that each book is the very best it can be. Everything is done with the intention of getting an author’s work into the hands of as many readers as possible.
